NEW 2019 7th EDITION

In 2009,the American Psychological Association (APA) published a new Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 2009, 6th edition.

HOWEVER, in October of 2019, the 7th edition was published. It may take a while for libraries to provide examples of the revised APA style.

For now, I am going to provide a URL that takes you to one of the best sources for giving advice and examples of how to cite in a variety of styles.

As with other years, the new Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association presents some rules that are open to some interpretation. As you visit different credible websites and handouts to help you cite sources according to the APA style, you might see some variations from source to source. PLEASE, ALWAYS REMEMBER that your teacher is the ultimate authority on the citations that you provide. The teacher's interpretation is what really matters. If you have any questions if your citations are correct, PLEASE check with your INSTRUCTOR.

We noticed at a couple of websites that have saved space by not double spacing their citation examples. Please remember that when you type your citations for your APA references page, you NEED to DOUBLE SPACE the lines. You NEED to DOUBLE SPACE the lines.

The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) is an EXCELLENT source for "all things writing." This site provides tips for developing a thesis statement, writing the paper, writing a resume, and much, much more. A lot of very helpful information on how to cite according to the APA style format manual can be located at this site, including an example /  sample APA paper. The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) is located at https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/purdue_owl.html. THE APA HELP information is located at https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_style_introduction.html.

Another source for information is the APA Style home page presented by the American Psychological Assocation at https://apastyle.apa.org/.
